RISKS OF ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE (ESD *)
Static electricity on operators must be controlled in the following application areas, as it can:

What does the regulation say?
The areas with explosive atmospheres called “ATEX” and the protection of workers against the risks of explosion are regulated by Directive 1999/92 / CE.
The use of qualified electrostatic charge dissipation footwear is recommended in these areas as part of the comprehensive explosion risk prevention system.
The requirements for the design and implementation of electrostatic discharge (ESD) control devices that can damage electronic components are defined by the EN61340-5-1 standard.
The device called “ESD” must offer a minimum resistance between 10⁵ Ω and 3.5 × 10⁷ Ω.
To be used in an ESD device, a shoe must have been rated at least by EN61340-4-3 and offer a minimum resistance of less than 10Ω to be dissipative.
SAULT2 ESD and VIAGI ESD are particularly efficient as they not only reached a maximum resistance between 10⁵ Ω and 3.5 × 10⁷ Ω, but these tests were performed under very restrictive conditions: environmental class number 1 (high dryness: humidity 15%).
Thanks to their low level of resistance, SAULT2 ESD and VIAGI EDS are a highly efficient element of the global grounded system (gloves, clothing, carpets, seats, etc…).
Therefore, its performance allows the system to achieve the level of resistance required for compliance.
